DOUBLE FIDDLES - Iain MacGillivray & Chuck Butler
International artists Iain MacGillivray and Chuck Butler bring the traditional music of Scotland, Cape Breton and Ireland to life with fresh interpretations, double-fiddling and with a mix of traditional instruments such as the fiddle, highland bagpipes, tin whistle, guitar and accordion.
Iain MacGillivray is the third generation of his family to carry on a piping tradition, following in the footsteps of his Gold Medal winning piping father, Duncan, and his grandfather, Donald P. MacGillivray. Iain is the son of former Battlefield Band piper, Duncan MacGillivray.
Chuck Butler is a traditional Donegal-style fiddler who is also well-versed with Cape Breton fiddle music. He carries on a third-generation family fiddle tradition from County Donegal in Ireland. His family’s music tradition traveled from Ireland to Newfoundland, and Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
They are joined by two respected names in Celtic music, Jim Ofsthun and Sue Spencer who add their versatile instrumental skills, and their vocal talents to bring new life to traditional songs.
