CHANCE
CHANCE coalesced in Los Angeles CA, a coming together of two musicians with wildly diverse backgrounds. It was in 1986 that vocalist Cheryl Leah, steeped in the worlds of R+B and Jazz and having recorded and performed with Jazz legends Herbie Hancock and Mirislov Vitous, joined forces with cellist Edward Willett who was newly emerging from the University of Southern California, one of the worlds leading conservatories. Their resulting musical experiment has remained as vibrant and unparalleled as the day they launched it twenty four years ago.
"We came from Los Angeles to Northern Wisconsin, visions of solitude dancing in our heads, looking for a house in the country to rent while we looked for something to by. We landed here on Poor Farm Road and never left. For a couple of songwriters it's been a cash cow of stories and inspiration" - Cheryl Leah
Ed Willett and Cheryl Leah have been members of the Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua's Blue Canvas Orchestra since 1994. Ed currently serves as musical director/artistic director and Cheryl as lead female vocalist. |
